Every winter a performance takes place on the frozen Landwehr Canal here in Berlin. It changes over time, and the "actors" are different from week to week. After a while a dialogue develops between the various objects thrown onto the ice. Sometimes a Christmas tree speaks to a shopping trolley. Sometimes old tires play a game of chess. One thing above all is clear: this moment is fleeting. The performance will come to a final end in the spring. We will never be able to see it in this form again; next winter new actors will take their place.
