The Dark Matter sculptures trace the process of going through and healing from heartbreak. As the phases progress, the sculptures blacken and their crust thickens. The subtitle “veiled” gives you a sense of the growing darkness. You can still see a few hints of the colour, of the life-force being compressed within.

The base is made of craft cement and measures 14 cm / 5.5" diameter x 5.5 cm / 2.25" high. Its surface is polished to a perfectly smooth, matte finish.
The title “Dark Matter” makes a connection between the astrophysical phenomena and human emotions. Dark matter can’t be measured, seen, or touched; we only can infer its existence based on the gravitational effect it has on other astral bodies.
I see emotions in a similar way: we feel them, but can’t actually touch them; we only know of an emotion’s presence because of the physiological and mental effects it creates in us.
